Karuna Home is built on what was originally agricultural land covering an area of approximately 270ft by 700ft. The land is undulating and surrounded by trees and fields on three sides and spectacular views of rolling hills in the distance. Application for change of use was submitted in 2000 and approval obtained in 2001. The architectural concept and plans were drawn up in Singapore in December 2000. Construction works on Phases 1 and 2 started in August 2001 followed by landscaping works in 2002. Phases 1 and 2 were completed in 3 years 3 months in November 2004. The first disabled children were admitted into the Home on 1st December 2004.
